Announcing our new partnership with Technological University Dublin

We are delighted to announce that following a successful competitive tender process, Technological University Dublin is partnering with evasys to implement a new programme and module survey system.

After contracts were signed in October 2022, implementation commenced immediately with the first roll out of programme-level evaluation surveys, launched in February 2023. Alongside implementing the evasys evaluation system, extensive integrations with Technological University Dublin’s existing systems have been implemented, with a particular focus on supporting the data sources from three Ellucian Banner student record systems and integrating with Moodle and Brightspace Virtual Learning Environments, the university’s mail server and its single sign on solution for staff and students.

About TU Dublin

  • Ireland’s first technological university, TU Dublin was established in 2019 after the amalgamation of three existing tertiary education institutions in the Dublin area; Dublin Institute of Technology, Institute of Technology Blanchardstown and Institute of Technology Tallaght.

  • TU Dublin integrated all functions and operations of these three institutions, meaning the processes and systems for three institutions need to be merged, rationalised and streamlined to support the requirements of the much larger university.

  • With more than 30,000 students and over 3,500 staff, TU Dublin is a leader in STEM disciplines, whilst also supporting Ireland’s largest cohort of students in business, media, culinary arts and the creative and performing arts.

  • As the second largest tertiary education provider in Ireland, TU Dublin needed a robust survey and evaluation platform to launch a new programme and module survey system.

evasys and TU Dublin

TU Dublin launched a tender process seeking a survey and evaluation solution supplier that delivered all its requirements; following competitive evaluation, evasys was appointed as the chosen partner, replacing an incumbent supplier.

The university required an integrated Programme and Module Survey tool that facilitated student surveys at the end of each semester. The system needed to provide a secure method of authenticating student survey feedback and producing anonymised student feedback reports that were accessible to relevant lecturers and programme co-ordinators with aggregated trend reports made available across Schools and Faculties.

The solution needed to provide the ability to close the feedback loop with students, and allow lecturers and programme co-ordinators to have the flexibility to add optional questions to the core set.

TU Dublin required a turn-key implementation with full configuration from the evasys team. With three separate Ellucian Banner student record systems and three separate VLEs to integrate, the evasys implementation team worked hand-in-hand with the team at TU Dublin to configure, create and launch the new survey system to their specification in just a few months.

Following an approach from the Senior Manager for Student Success at TU Dublin, the evasys team also configured and deployed the University’s Graduate Outcomes Survey required by Ireland’s Higher Education Authority; the initial response rates were far higher than previously obtained, and continue to increase following evasys’ automated reminder process.

Bruce Johnson, Managing Director at evasys, commented:

“A project of this scale is where the evasys approach to implementation and active support of our survey solution really pays dividends.  Our team’s collective experience working within higher education means that we truly understand what is required to deliver a robust survey and evaluation process that integrates seamlessly with all existing systems. We really engaged with and supported TU Dublin throughout this significant piece of work, and our partnership approach ensured that the project was successfully delivered well within agreed timescales.”

Nicole O’Neill, TU Dublin’s Education Innovation Manager, commented:

“evasys provides professional and responsive support that enabled TU Dublin to seamlessly integrate data from different student record systems into the one student feedback system. This enabled the University to disseminate and publicise the one survey system across all campuses, ensuring consistency for all staff and students. This included providing students with survey closure reports, which demonstrates the University’s commitment to our Student Voice.”
