What is Universities UK (UUK)?
UUK is the collective voice of 142 universities across the UK. A membership organisation, UUK aims to shape policy that allows universities to deliver the greatest impact possible for students, staff, the economy and the communities they serve.
Formed in late 1918 with just 22 university leaders, UUK had a founding mission of creating a united sector in a shared commitment to work for the good of society. Since then, the organisation’s mission remains largely unchanged and they have spoken out in support of universities and the higher education sector for over 100 years.
Focusing on the current strategic issues faced by UK universities, the annual UUK conference offers a chance for all members to come together over two days to hear talks by experts, leaders and politicians and take part in discussion groups and informal networking. The first day of the conference is attended only by vice-chancellors, with the second day open to senior leadership teams.
